Glossary

Refer to the glossary of Cloudmore terms to familiarize yourself with our platform, features, and industry concepts.

A

  • Addons - Additional microservices that cannot be purchased independently (with some exceptions), but are added to a larger service for a minimal price. Addons can be one-time purchases or recurring subscriptions.

  • Admin Import - This functionality is available under the Broker menu wherein you can bulk import admins using a CSV file. Learn more here.

  • Agreements - This feature is available for Brokers under the Organization menu that allows you to create template agreements that can be used for contract signing with organizations. Learn more here.

  • Approval Process - Brokers can set a predefined approval process that determines which activities by a self-service enabled organization requires the approval of the broker. When active, any purchase, either new or change of an existing subscription, will generate an approval request that needs to be approved by the Cloud Service Broker.   • Approval Requests - Self-service enabled organizations can submit Approval Requests to brokers to approve any subscription-related changes. Learn more here.

B

  • Branding - Brokers can apply their company branding on the Cloudmore platform with also options for white labels that can be accessed using a custom URL. Learn more here.

  • Broker/Reseller - A broker/reseller buys the product from a direct seller and sells the product at a new sales price to other organizations. With a Broker account in Cloudmore, a broker can provision services to new customers, set their own sales prices, manage subscriptions, and handle end-to-end billing.

C

  • Cloudmore API - The Cloudmore API is a REST API that Cloudmore Cloud Service Brokers and Sellers in Cloudmore can use to order and manage services and subscriptions and retrieve billing information. Learn more.

  • Cost Price - The price at which a broker purchases a service from seller or distributor is called the cost price for the broker.

  • CSP - A cloud service provider is a third-party company offering a cloud-based platform, infrastructure, application, or storage services.

  • Custom Services - Cloudmore enables the brokers to create their own customised service plans, where they can set up products and create subscriptions. Learn more about custom services here.

D

  • Dashboard - Every broker and self service enabled organization can set up their own customized dashboards with shortcuts to relevant links, pages, and functions. Learn more about Cloudmore dashboards.

E

  • Event log - This functionality available under Logs menu helps you to track the changes made to the services by brokers, seller, or organization users for any period of time.

  • Email Notification Templates - Brokers can setup email notifications with the desired template to send to their customers for notifying of subscription expiries or for other important communication. Learn more about email templates.

Feedback Log - This feature available under the Logs menu allows you to track the feedback/requests you submitted to the platform support team.

G

  • General Billing Report - The General Billing Report on Cloudmore provides a detailed breakdown of billing for all subscriptions for various organizations. Brokers can generate reports for all organizations and products or also obtain data for specific services or organizations for the selected date range. You can obtain all details regarding the cost and sales prices, consumption, subscription details, item codes, etc. Learn more about the General Billing Report.

  • Global Admin - This role allows the user to have full rights to all menu options in the Cloudmore menu at both Broker and Organization platform levels, but cannot change any of the Broker properties, security settings, branding or MS Azure AD Sync.

  • Global Billing Admin - This is a restricted role allowing the user to only administer the billing areas of the platform at the Service Provider level. The user can manage price-list and billing activities including setting discounts, submitting consumption data, and adding manual billing lines.

  • Global Support Admin - This role is to assist organizations. The role has a limited view and cannot make any changes to the broker level, but has full control at the organization level with the exception of setting General Discount.

I

  • Integrated Services - Cloudmore Systems API enables integration with other business systems using the latest web standards to synchronise any billing, subscription, or account related information. Cloudmore has successfully partnered with various services like Microsoft, Datto, Kaspersky, Acronis, etc.

  • Invoices - The invoices feature allows you to view and pay your Cloudmore invoices. You can select a date range to view current or historic invoices. To pay your Cloudmore invoice, click on Actions and select Payment. You will be taken to the PayEx portal where you can securely pay your bill via credit card.

  • Item Code - Item Code is a unique identifier for a product that will be displayed in subscriptions, price lists, and reporting.

K

  • Key Account Manager - This role is intended for sales and support staff who are responsible for a subset of customers. This role provides full access at the Organization level to assigned organization records only.

L

  • Limited Broker - Limited Brokers have access to the Cloudmore platform where they can manage subscriptions and billing for limited or predefined services. They won’t have access to advanced features like creating custom services, adding additional services from e-store, branding, API access, and the ability to enable self service for their organizations.

M

  • Margin - Margin refers to the profit percentage that’s calculated as the difference between the sales and cost price divided by the sales price. Brokers can determine the sales price in agreement with the customer and set the prices in price list and Cloudmore will automatically calculate the margin in the process. Brokers can also review the margin generated during their monthly billing check routine. Use the margin calculator for reference.

  • Markup - Markup is an indicator of how much you’ve increased the sales price from the cost price. It’s calculated as the difference between the sales and cost price divided by the cost price. Refer to this markup calculator.

  • Marketplace - Cloudmore offers a marketplace which is an e-store where brokers and self service enabled organizations can purchase different long term or one-time products. Sellers and brokers can also setup products and make it available for purchase through the Cloudmore e-store.

  • Manual Billing lines - Manual Billing Lines allow a Broker to submit billing records from an external source into Cloudmore. Lines are created for either Broker or Organization and can be attached to either a Service, a Product, or a Subscription. Learn how to create Manual Billing Lines.

  • Microsoft Azure AD Sync - Microsoft Azure AD sync means all user management done in the Microsoft partner portal will just be copied to the Cloudmore portal so that brokers don’t have to separately create admin users on Cloudmore. So if a user is created or deleted in Microsoft, the change will automatically happen in Cloudmore.

  • Metered Billing - Metered billing is a pricing model where the customer is charged based on their consumption level of the product or service. For more on setting up Consumption-Based Services, see here.

  • Microsoft Customer Agreement - Customers need to sign the Microsoft Customer Agreement when they purchase a new CSP product. In Cloudmore, brokers can accept this agreement on behalf of the customer. Learn more.

  • Microsoft billing - Microsoft Billing Report available on Cloudmore includes all the billing information for modern Azure and the NCE program. Learn more.

  • Multi Factor Authentication - This adds an extra layer of security to your Cloudmore accounts to ensure that only authorized people can access the platform, even if they know their password. Learn more about MFA.

  • Multiple Organizations Form - This form is used to bulk import organizations to Cloudmore. Brokers can download the template, fill the requested information about the organization and upload it. This automatically creates the organization accounts in Cloudmore. Learn more.

O

  • Organizations - Organizations on Cloudmore refers to. the clients or customers whose products and subscriptions are managed by a broker. Brokers can create organization accounts, manage their subscriptions, and also enable them for self service optionally.

  • Organization Admin Requests - When an organization admin makes a change to the subscription or product, it is processed as a request to the broker for approval based on the approval workflow set by the broker. Brokers can review these requests and accept/decline as required. Learn more about approval management process.

  • Organization Groups - When a broker enables an organization for self service, they can create organization admin accounts and then group these accounts for better management.

P

  • Payment Frequency and Billing Interval - The payment frequency defines how often payment should happen. The frequency can either be monthly, quarterly, or yearly. The payment frequency can be aligned with the subscription period or a shorter value. For instance, an annual subscription may be paid monthly. In billing reports, the payment frequency may be referred to as a billing interval.

  • Price List - Price List is a function in Cloudmore where brokers can set the Sales Prices for various products. The profit margins are auto-calculated as the broker adjusts the sales prices in the Price list. The function is available under Billing dropdown.

  • Product - A Product / Service Plan is the actual item the organization buys. A product has a name, item code, price, and subscription and cancellation rules. A service may have one or several products.

  • Pro-rated billing - This is a type of billing that can be set for products where billing is generated based on the number of days the subscription was active. This is also applicable for the first partial billing cycle. Refunds and subscription and add-on quantity changes quantity changes will also be applied for pro-rated billing in a similar fashion.

  • Provisioning log - This feature is available under the Log menu where you can view how services have been provisioned for various organizations for the selected time period.

Q

  • Quote Tool - Cloudmore gives the reseller/broker the ability to provide a quote for an organization to provision products from the Marketplace Services. The quote tool generates automatic approval emails for the organizations to review and accept/decline. Learn how to use the quote tool.

  • Recommended Price - Sellers or brokers setting up products on Cloudmore have the option to set a recommended sales price which will be used as default sales price unless changed in the price list.
  • Reports - Cloudmore provides different types of reports for brokers and organization admins. This includes a General Billing Report which is a consolidated report that has all billing related information, sales and growth reports, subscription renewal reports, and CSP reports. S

  • Sales Price - Sales Price for the broker is the price at which they sell a service/product to the customers. Brokers can update their sales price using the Price list functionality. In the Cloudmore price list, you can manage both your global and specific customer prices. Global pricing will apply by default to all your customers.  Learn more about how to set pricing.

  • Scheduled Reports - Cloudmore Billing Report provides comprehensive data about the service subscriptions, costs, and sales prices for each organization a broker manages. Brokers can view the report on-screen, get a detailed breakdown via email, and can also schedule periodic email reports. Learn how to set up scheduled Billing Reports.

  • Security Center - The security center helps you to prevent, detect and respond to threats. You can setup threat notifications, Multi Factor Authentication (MFA), IP Address monitoring, and Single Sign On (SSO) for your account logins. Learn how to use the Security Center on Cloudmore.

  • Self Service Portal - Brokers can authorize the organizations you manage for self-service where organization admins will have limited rights to manage the subscriptions. Any changes made by the organization will have to adhere to limits applied by brokers and have to go through the necessary approval process.

  • Seller - The Seller level in Cloudmore is for those service providers who want to market their services within the Cloudmore platform. Sellers can create, edit, and publish their services through the e-store and also collaborate with the resellers/brokers on the same platform. Sellers can also view detailed breakdown of their sales and growth.

  • Service - Service is the offering package that can include the main product, additional supporting products, one time setup equipment etc. Service is made available by the seller in the e-store that can be purchased by brokers or organizations.

  • Single Sign-On (SSO) - Single sign-on (SSO) is a centralized session and user authentication service in which one set of login credentials can be used to access multiple applications. SSO can be great for productivity, IT monitoring and management and security control. Learn how to configure SSO in Cloudmore.

  • Subscription Period - The subscription period is the agreement length of a subscription that the customer commits to buying the service. Cloudmore supports both the Pay-As-You-Go (1-month subscriptions) model and long term subscription periods. Renewal rules are set on the product if it is a custom product, otherwise defined by the service provider.

  • Super Admin - This role allows the user to have full rights to all menu options in the Cloudmore menu at both Broker and Organization platform levels.Users wanting access to Cloudmore APIs must have the Super Admin role. Learn how to setup Admin accounts.

T

  • Templates - Brokers using the Custom Service functionality can setup email templates for various events like subscription expiry, renewal notifications, reminders, etc. Templates can include tags, automatically populated fields, and other customisations.   • Tenant ID - Tenant ID is is a unique identifier that is associated with a third party application. While integrating Cloudmore with a third party application, the tenant ID from the partner account allows Cloudmore to access important information and complete integration successfully.
